Project Brief: Product and Marketing Strategy for Zamp Solar

Mission: Zamp Solar, now Dometic Mobile Power Solutions, aims to provide high-quality, American-made solar solutions that grant individuals the freedom and flexibility to power their lives and pursue their goals off-grid.

Objective: Launched Zamp Solar in new Outdoor industry channel, developed go-to-market strategy of their new Obsidian Solar line, developed Zamp Solar’s brand story, enhanced Zamp Solar’s brand visibility, strengthened digital presence, and drove sales growth by aligning marketing efforts with their commitment to quality, innovation, and USA-made story.  


Project Scope

Delivered a comprehensive go-to-market launch and marketing campaign to elevate Zamp Solar’s story and brand in a new sector within the Outdoor industry in conjunction with the launch of the new Obsidian Solar product line.  The project combined strategic planning, creative briefs, video content, social media strategy, and technical expertise to position Zamp Solar as a leader for off-grid solutions in the Outdoor industry.


1. New Product Launch

Objective: Developed successful launch of Obsidian product line, product line assortment strategy deployment, designed all packaging, technical product videos, and press release coordination.  

Activities:

Oversaw product release from line plan strategy, technical component kit integration, web copy, technical instructions, and all brand related material deployment.  

Outcome: Successfully launched a robust line of new solar solutions geared towards all channels and new customer demographic within the Outdoor industry.  


2. Marketing Strategy

Objective: Develop a targeted strategy in conjunction with new product line to increase brand awareness and drive customer acquisition.

Activities:

Conducted market research to analyze outdoor industry trends, competitor strategies, and consumer preferences.

Crafted a multi-channel marketing plan focusing on new and existing customer base, retailers, and outdoor lifestyle communities.

Established key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure campaign success and guide ongoing optimizations.

Outcome: Provided a data-driven strategy that aligned marketing efforts with Zamp Solar’s brand values and business goals, boosting customer engagement.


3. Brand Story

Objective: Brought to market Zamp Solar’s brand story with an “About Us” full length video  showcasing Zamp Solar’s mission, vision and values.  

Activities:

Orchestrated story board, cinematographers, and post-production with onsite and offsite multiday shoots.  

Outcome: Delivered compelling video showcased on home page and all social media channels throughout 2022 launch.  Established brand identity that strengthened Zamp Solar’s market presence and contributed to the acquisition by Dometic. 


4. Content Creation

Objective: Produce compelling content to showcase brand story, product features, and build brand loyalty. Created revised catalogs and sales decks in accordance with new brand standards.

Activities:

Created high-resolution product photography and lifestyle images/videos featuring authentic users with Zamp Solar products.

Outcome: Strengthened brand storytelling with visually appealing and informative content that drove engagement and trust.  Created organic ambassador team to drive sales and awareness.  


5. Acquisition support

Objective: Engaged key stakeholders on both leadership teams during the successful Dometic M&A transition.  Met and strategized for successful transition with key global leaders from CEO, Business Unit Leads, CMO, CPO, and CFO.  

Activities:

Key leadership partner during acquisition by Dometic.  Coordination of all product and marketing strategy and roadmaps with integration for Swedish and Bend-based team members.    

Outcome: Successful M&A transition in 2023 by Dometic.  Led strategic initiatives integration across Zamp Solar’s $20M+ DTC sales, brand and marketing, product roadmap, eCommerce, customer experience, business development, and go-to-market execution.
